GW Highways are delighted to be reconstructing part of the A229 Thanet Way on behalf of Kent County Council.
We will excavate the road to a significant depth and rebuild it with a much stronger construction, using specialist stabilisation products, different sized aggregates and multiple layers of asphalt.
Strategic Asset Manager at Kent County Council Highways, Alan Casson MCIHT said: “We are absolutely delighted that GW Highways, our Road Asset Renewal Contractor for the last three years, is delivering this vital infrastructure project for Kent. We have worked closely with them over the last year to develop an innovative design. That, together with our confidence in the planning and delivery capability, means we have confidence that they will complete this project on time minimising disruption to the residents and businesses of Kent, and that the underlying ground conditions will be resolved once and for all.”
Following the completion of these works, the structural integrity of the road will be far more resilient, reducing the need for reactive repairs, the associated frequent and disruptive traffic management and improving the ride quality of Kent’s highway users. We don’t just maintain; we build back better!
