Road Safety Week 2022 - GWH IPV Incident

14 Nov 2022

Today is the start of Road Safety Week 2022, with the theme this year SAFE ROADS FOR ALL, bringing together communities and professionals to shout out for everyone’s right to make safe and healthy journeys on safe roads.

Every 22 minutes, someone in the UK is killed or seriously injured in a traffic collision. 1 in 8 drivers admit falling asleep at the wheel.

We are sharing some footage below of an incident that occurred last year where the driver fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle at speed. Our IPV crew detected the vehicle and started to speed up to reduce the impact of the collusion and fortunately, no one was seriously injured and was able to walk away from the incident in one piece.

Worldwide, it is estimated that between 10% and 20% of all road crashes are fatigue related. Statistics suggest that driving when tired is as dangerous as drink-driving.
